Here is the deal.   Vans, FUEL TV and Slam Magazine have got together and giving you the chance to win Vans shoes, Slam subscriptions and a trip to LA for the Vans Downtown Showdown.
 
What you gotta do is take a pic - showing us your vans.   It could be yourself or your mates, chilling, skating, riding, partying, sleeping in the gutter - whatever!   It just has to be creative because the winning picture will also be made into an ad for Vans in Slam Magazine! Epic.
 
From August 11 until September 11, Vans skater Dustin Dollin will pick a weekly winner - his favourite pic - and this lucky snapper gets

“Show us your Vans” Game of Skill
Conditions of Entry
 
1.                  Competition and Promoter
 
1.1.            By entering the “Show us your Vans” Game of Skill (Competition) and in consideration of the opportunity to participate in the Competition, each entrant agrees to be bound by and observe these Conditions of Entry.
 
2.                  Who may enter
 
2.1.            Entry into the Competition is open to all permanent residents of Australia. Participants may enter the Competition as many times as they wish, however each entry must be different and unique and entrants can only win 1 prize.
 
2.2.            The officers, management and employees (or immediate family of an officer, manager or employee) of Premier Media Group Pty Limited ABN 16 065 445 418 of 55 Pyrmont Bridge Road, Pyrmont NSW 2009 (the Promoter), Accent Group Pty Limited (VANS) ABN 9606 0805 692 of 2/64 Balmain St, Richmond VIC 3121, or Morrison Media Pty Limited (SLAM) ABN 46290674989 of PO Box 823, Burleigh Heads, Qld. 4220 or related corporations and associated agencies of such companies are not eligible to enter the Competition.
 
3.                  How to enter
 
Eligible participants of the Competition must, during the Competition Period (see below) send a picture of their Vans shoes to vans@fueltv.com.au  with their full name, age, address and phone number.
 
4.                  Competition Period
 
The Competition commences on 11 August 2008 and closes at 11.59pm on 11 September 2008 (Competition Period). Entries not received in the Competition Period or not completed in accordance with the Conditions of Entry will not be eligible to win.
 
5.                  Prize and notification
 
5.1.            There will be 4 weekly prize winners and one major prize winner.
 
5.2.            Weekly prize winners 
(a)               All entries received in accordance with these Conditions of Entry between the start of the Competition Period up until 11.59pm 17 August 2008 will be eligible to win the first weekly prize. The first weekly prize winner will be the most creative picture as judged by the Promoter in its sole discretion on 20 August 2008.
(b)               All entries received in accordance with these Conditions of Entry up until 11.59pm 24 August 2008 will be eligible to win the second weekly prize. The second weekly prize winner will be the most creative picture as judged by the Promoter in its sole discretion on 27 August 2008.
(c)               All entries received in accordance with these Conditions of Entry up until 11.59pm on 31 August 2008 will be eligible to win the third weekly prize. The third weekly prize winner will be the most creative picture as judged by the Promoter in its sole discretion on 3 September 2008.
(d)               All entries received in accordance with these Conditions of Entry up until 11.59pm on 11 September 2008 will be eligible to win the fourth weekly prize. The fourth weekly prize winner will be the most creative picture as judged by the Promoter in its sole discretion on 15 September 2008.
 
 
5.3.            Major prize winner. All entries received in accordance with these Conditions of Entry during the Competition Period will be eligible to win the major prize. The major prize winner will be the most creative/unique picture over the whole Competition Period as judged by the Promoter in its sole discretion on 15 September 2008 and may be an entrant that did not win a weekly prize.
 
5.4.            Prize winners will be notified by telephone or email. The prize will be sent via registered mail. Judging will be done by the Promoter at 55 Pyrmont Bridge Road, Pyrmont NSW 2009.
 
5.5.            The 4 weekly prize winners in clause 5.2 above will each receive 1 x signed skate deck by Dustin Dollin or Omar Hassan, 1 x Vans t-shirt, 1 x Vans trucker cap, 1 x Vans backpack and 1 x pair of Vans shoes. Each weekly prize pack is valued up to AUD$400.
 
5.6.            The major prize winner in clause 5.3 above will receive
(a)               Return economy airfares for 2 adults from the major prize winner’s nearest capital city to Los Angeles, California, valued up to AUD$5,000;
(b)               2 tickets to attend the Vans Downtown Showdown Event at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles on Saturday, 11th October 2008 (Event) and a ‘Meet and greet’ with some of the stars from the Event;
(c)               4 nights twin share accommodation in a 3 star hotel, valued up to $150 per night;
(d)               AUD$100 per day spending money for the 4 days;
(e)        4 x pairs of Vans shoes valued at a total of $400; and
(f)         1 x Vans prize pack including T-shirt, cap, backpack and other Vans gear valued AUD$200.
 
5.7.            Total prize value is AUD$8,200.
 
5.8.            The major prize winner and their travel companion are responsible for all expenses not specified in these Conditions of Entry including spending money (other than as specified above), meals, stopovers, hotel car parking, other hotel incidentals, all ground transportation (including, without limitation, transport to and from the departure point, transport to and from the airport to the hotel and transport to and from the hotel to the Event), taxes not included in the price of the airline ticket, visas, passports, travel or related insurance, gratuities, merchandise (other than as specified above) or any other costs of a related, ancillary or incidental nature not stated. Compliance with any health or other government requirements, other travel documentation and any extras of a personal nature eg. tips, telephone, laundry etc. are the responsibility of the major prize winner and their nominated travel companion. Without limiting the above, entry into any country and satisfying any customs or related requirements is the full responsibility of the major prize winner and their nominated travel companion. Prize travel is subject to fare rules of the carrier and their general conditions of carriage and prize accommodation is subject to the rules of the relevant hotel. Tickets will not be exchanged for another destination. The major prize winner and their nominated travel companion cannot upgrade any prize travel or prize accommodation using cash or frequent flyer points and will not accrue frequent flyer points on any prize flights or on any prize accommodation. The major prize winner and their nominated travel companion must travel together on the same flights on all sectors. Prize travel and accommodation must be taken in order to coincide with the Event. Prize travel and accommodation may not be changed by the major prize winner or their travel companion under any circumstances. Major prize winner may be required to present their credit card at time of accommodation check in. If the major prize winner or travel companion cannot travel in accordance with this clause and on the flights nominated by the Promoter, the prize will be forfeited. If for any reason the major prize winner does not take an element of the prize during the stated period, and on the conditions, stipulated by the Promoter, then that element of the prize will be forfeited and cash will not be awarded in lieu of that element of the prize. Bookings will be made by the Promoter. Flight schedules and accommodation arrangements are subject to change without notice. The Promoter makes no representation as to the safety, conditions or other issues that may exist at any destination. International travel advice can be obtained from various sources, including government, local consular offices and the web site of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
 
5.9.            The major prize winner and their travel companion are responsible for obtaining a current passport and satisfying all health, immigration or other Government conditions and requirements in Australia and the USA. Travel, medical and any other insurance are not included in the Prize and are the responsibility of the major prize winner and their travel companion and are highly recommended.
 
5.10.        Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in the value of the prize. The prize is not transferable or exchangeable. The Prize is not redeemable for cash or kind and must be taken as offered. In the event a prize is not available, (for example, the Event is cancelled) the Promoter reserves the rights to substitute a prize of equal value.
 
6.                  Information for Prize Winner
 
6.1.            The Promoter is not obliged to reimburse the major prize winner or their travel companion if they should not be able to travel for any reason whatsoever to the Event and not participate in the prize.
 
            6.2       If the major prize winner is under the age of 18 years, the prize will be awarded to the major prize winners’ parent/guardian on their behalf. The form of identification considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of Promoter.
 
            6.3       If a major prize winner is under the age of 18 years, the major prize winner must provide the Promoter with authorisation from the major prize winner’s parent/guardian to collect the prize and their travel companion must be 18 year of age or over. In addition, before the major prize winner who is under the age of 18 years is eligible to collect the prize, the parent/guardian will be required to sign a release, in terms of the release given by the major prize winner below. The release will also require the major prize winner’s parent/guardian to accept responsibility for the acts and forbearances of the major prize winner. The form of identification and/or proof of age as well as authorisation and release are at the discretion of the Promoter. Failure to provide such proof, authorisation or release will immediately invalidate the major prize winner’s entitlement to the prize.
 
            6.4.      All entrants agree to provide the Promoter or the Promoter’s authorised agent with identification and/or proof of age if selected as the major prize winner or if reasonably requested by the Promoter or the Promoter’s authorised agent. If the major prize winner is 18 years or over and elects to take a travel companion who is under the age of 18 years, the major prize winner will be required to sign a release, on the terms of the release given by the major prize winner. The release will also require the major prize winner to accept responsibility for the acts and forbearances of the travel companion. If the travel companion is 18 years of age or over, they must sign a release on the terms of the major prize winner’s release. The form of identification and/or proof of age as well as authorisation and release are at the discretion of the Promoter. Failure to provide such proof, authorisation or release will immediately invalidate the major prize winner’s and travel companions entitlement to the major prize.
 
            6.5.      Acceptance of the weekly prizes or major prize shall constitute consent on the prize winner’s and their travel companions part to allow the use of their name, image, voice and/or likeness by Promoter for editorial, advertising, promotional, marketing and/or other purposes without further compensation except where prohibited by law.
 
7.                  Release and indemnity
 
7.1.            The information entrants provide will be used by the Promoter for the purpose of conducting the Competition that they enter.
 
7.2.            To the extent it is legally able to do so, each prize winner, travel companion and entrant releases and discharges the Promoter and its agents from Claims (defined in clause 7.4 below) that a prize winner, travel companion or entrant may have had, has now or may have against any of the Promoter or its agents for, or in any way arising out of, or in connection with the Competition or prize, including, but not limited to a prize winner’s or travel companion’s use of or participation in the prize.
 
7.3.            To the extent that a prize winner, travel companion or entrant is unable by law to release and discharge the Promoter and its agents in respect of a Claim, or if for any reason the release above is not effective, the prize winner, travel companion or entrant indemnifies and undertakes to keep indemnified the Promoter and its agents from and against all and any Claims that any person has or at any time may have against the Promoter and/or its agents for or in any way arising out of or in connection with an entrant’s or prize winner’s participation in the Competition and/or prize winner’s or travel companions use of or participation in the prize.
 
7.4.            For the purpose of these Conditions of Entry, “Claim” means any allegation, debt, cause of action, liability, claim, proceeding, suit or demand of any nature howsoever arising in respect of any loss or damage (including any direct, economic, special or consequential loss or damage), cost, expense or other claim, whether based in tort (including but not limited to negligence on the part of the Promoter or an agent of the Promoter), contract, statute, equity or otherwise and whether present or future, fixed or unascertained, actual or contingent and “Claims” has a corresponding meaning.
 
8.                  Limitation of Liability
 
8.1.            No responsibility will be taken by the Promoter or its authorised agents for lost, ineligible, misdirected or late entries due to technical reasons or any other reason. Entries that are not genuine are incomplete or late or are in any way fraudulent will be declared void.
 
8.2.            Neither the Promoter nor any other person or party associated with this Competition, will be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever suffered or personal injury suffered or sustained by an entrant, prize winner or travel companion:
(a)        while using or participating in a prize won in, or connected with their entry into, the Competition; and/or
(b)        as a consequence of late, lost or misdirected mail or email; and/or
(c)        due to circumstances outside the Promoter’s reasonable control.
 
8.3.            The Promoter makes no representation or warranties as to the quality/suitability/merchantability of any of the goods/services offered as the prize. If the Promoter is liable for any Claim by the entrant, including a Claim arising from the Promoter’s negligence, the Promoter’s liability for any such claim will not exceed the value of the prize won as set out in these Conditions of Entry.
 
8.4.            The Promoter is not liable for the cancellation of all or any part of the prize, for any reason. The Promoter reserves the right to change the prize at any time if the prize becomes unavailable. 
 
9.                  Privacy
 
The Promoter may disclose your personal information to assist in conducting the Competition you enter or communicating with you. Entrants in the Competition acknowledge that the Promoter may share an entrant’s personal information with the Promoter’s Australian related entities which may contact you with special offers.  The Promoter is bound by the National Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988. Entrants can access the personal information the Promoter holds about them by writing to the Promoter at 55 Pyrmont Bridge Road, Pyrmont 2009.
 
10.              General
 
10.1.        All entries must be original to and created solely by the entrant. All entries into the Competition and all copyright and other rights in such entries and/or other materials become the property of the Promoter and shall not be returned. Each participant agrees to provide a written assignment of all rights to the Promoter if requested. By submitting an entry into the Competition and any other materials (save for any personal information) to Promoter in connection with the Competition, each participant thereby:
 
(a)               specifically authorizes Promoter to use and/or license third parties to use such entry in whole or in part, throughout the universe, in perpetuity in or on any and all media, now known or hereafter devised, and alone or together or as part of other information, content and/or material of any kind or nature;
 
(b)               represents and warrants that all elements contained in the Competition entry or other material:
 
(i)                  is original to the participant and fully cleared for use as contemplated herein,
(ii)                does and will not, in any way, violate or breach any of the terms of any other agreement the participant may be a party to,
(iii)               does not contain defamatory, tortious, or otherwise unlawful, untrue or inaccurate information, infringe or violate any copyright or other right, or contain any matter the publication or sale of which will violate any federal or state statute or regulation,
(iv)              is not obscene or in any other manner unlawful or likely to cause offence,
(v)                is not in any way cruel nor abusive,
(vi)              shall not require the Promoter to pay or incur any sums to any person (including without limitation the participant) or entity as a result of Promoters’ use or exploitation of the same.
 
10.2.        This Competition is a "game of skill". Chance plays no part in determining the prize winner. 
 
10.3.        All eligible entries will be included. No correspondence will be entered into and the Promoter’s decision is final.
 
10.4.        If the prize is unclaimed by 15 September 2008, it will be provided to the next most creative entry as determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.  The prize remains the property of the Promoter until it is collected by the selected prize winner or unclaimed prize winner as the case may be. 
 
10.5.        If for any reason the Competition is not capable of running as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, technical failures or any other causes which corrupt or affect the fairness or integrity or proper conduct of the Competition, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process and to cancel, modify, terminate or suspend the Competition.
 
10.6.        Prize winners are advised that tax implications may arise from the prize and should seek independent financial advice prior to their acceptance of the prize.
 
10.7.        In the event that for any reason whatsoever a prize winner does not take an element of the prize at the time stipulated by the Promoter, then that element of the prize will be forfeited by the prize winner and cash will not be awarded in lieu of that element of the prize.
 
11.              Contact details
 
11.1.        It is the entrant’s responsibility to inform the Promoter of their residential address, email address or their day time telephone number should any of these change each the Competition.
